NFPA 70E standard and OSHA regulations have been established to protect workers from electrical shock and arc flash hazards.  NFPA 70E specifies areas where arc flash protection is required for workers involved in the maintenance of energeized or potentially energized electrical equipment. All personnel within the defined boundaries must wear specified protective equpment, even on circuits as low as 50 volts.
