AB Chance C4030979 Multi-Range Voltage Detector (1kV-40kV)
Hubbell Power systems C4030979 Multi Range Voltage Indicator 1 to 40 kV for overhead systems and URD elbow test points when fitted with straight probe. Confirm that a line is de-energized prior to performing maintenance.
- 1-40kV range. Includes hook probe, straight probe and "TP" setting on range selector switch for testing URD elbows with test points
- Self-test button verifies operation
- Optional illuminated dial for some UD models
- Clearly marked scale multipliers on range selector
- Traditional analog display provides status of system voltage to operator at a glance
- To confirm lines de-energized prior to maintenance, these detectors present field practicality. Actually field intensity meters, they are calibrated to read approximate line-to-line voltage when connected to any phase conductor. They respond to magnitude of field gradient between end probe and floating electrode (at universal hotstick-attachment fitting).
- Capable of distinguishing actual line voltage from static or line feedover. Their readings can be compared with numerical certainty rather than with the subjective judgment associated with audible and/or visual light indicators. Since these instruments are not voltmeters, no specific accuracy is claimed by manufacturer or can be assumed by the user. For use primarily as quick-check safety devices.

Specifications | The Voltage Detector must be mounted on proper length hotstick for the voltage class involved. Complete instructions are furnished with easy, illustrated step-by-step procedures. Internal circuit and push-button permit check before and after each use to confirm operational condition of instrument and battery. Readings will vary with field intensity, determined by a great deal of field conditions including the proximity, size and orientation of all system componenents in the vicinity, both energized and grounded. Erroneous zero meter readings when the line is actually energized can result from both meter electrodes being at the same electric potential. To avoid such field distortions, keep the voltage detector as far away as practical from system components other than the specific conductor being tested. |
